Evelyn Kathryn Haynes was born in Bothell on April 15, 1920 to Harold Keeney and Mildred Anderson. While growing up, Evelyn lived in numerous towns, and ultimately set her roots in Bothell where her father, Harold "Pop" Keeney, became a legendary football coach. Evelyn graduated from R.A. Long in 1937 and earned a degree from Lower Columbia Community College. While working for the Burroughs Company in Tacoma, Evelyn met her husband, Lowell Haynes, whom she married in 1943. Evelyn and Lowell raised four children: Al, Bob, Steve, and Sue. Evelyn and Lowell enjoyed hosting the extended family for major holidays. When the 4 children were growing up, Evelyn especially enjoyed boating in the San Juan Islands with family and friends. Evelyn was a devoted and loving mother and wife. Her greatest joy came from her time spent with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Evelyn was active in the Bothell Christian Science Church & the Bothell Historical Museum, where she served as secretary 1970-2004. Always supportive of public schools, Evelyn served as PTA President at Bothell High.
A beautiful, warm and caring person, she always greeted people with a smile and will be remembered in the historic community as a quiet, dedicated champion of Bothell history.
Evelyn passed peacefully on October 5, 2016 at Cedar Park Adult Family Home where she resided for the last 8 years. The family wants to give special thanks to the Cedar Park staff for their loving care of Evelyn.
